Welcome

Welcome to the website of the Great Lakes Indian Housing Association. The primary purpose for the association is to represent, support and promote Indian housing entities and tribes in our efforts to provide safe, affordable, sanitary and culturally relevant dwellings for Indian people in the United States of America.

In pursuit of this purpose, we provide information, advice, and technical assistance with respect to construction, rehabilitation, operations and economic development activities of member tribes and housing entities. in addition, the association educates federal agencies on relevant housing and unique cultural needs of the members and to promote legislation that would insure safe, affordable, sanitary, and culturally relevant housing opportunities.

The membership is open to tribal housing departments and tribal housing authorities in the Great Lakes region, currently including the states of Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, and Indiana.
